New EU Right-to-Repair Laws Boost Demand for Professional Microsoldering Services

The European Union’s landmark Right to Repair Directive (EU 2024/1799) is set to transform the mobile repair industry. As member states prepare for full implementation by 31 July 2026, independent repair shops specializing in advanced microsoldering are experiencing a significant surge in demand.
This directive, adopted in June 2024 and entering into force on 30 July 2024, requires manufacturers to offer repair services at reasonable prices, provide spare parts for extended periods, and avoid using hardware or software techniques that obstruct repairs. It applies to a wide range of products, including smartphones, tablets, household appliances, and more.
Consumers save money by extending the life of their expensive flagships instead of buying new ones. Repair shops that have invested in microsoldering training, hot air stations, BGA rework tools, and high-quality microscopes are perfectly positioned to capitalize on this growing market.
Shops without advanced microsoldering capabilities may struggle as customers increasingly seek affordable, sustainable repair options encouraged by the new laws.
